According to google a container is, ” an object that can be used to hold or transport something.” These are not the containers I will be talking about though, I will be talking about David Allen’s version of containers. Which are tools that can be high or low-tech to collect your in-completes.
The first container I use is Apple’s Notes App either on my Ipad or on my Iphone. This is the container I use most often, because it is convenient and easy to use. I probably use this app everyday of my life, either when I need to remind myself to do something or when I just have an idea that I do not want to forget. I put some passwords, homework due, things I need to get done on my car, or just things I need in my everyday life in this app. I have different categories so not everything is on one page. Which are my homework due page, things I need to do page, passwords page, and helpful things/idea page.

Another container that is very helpful to me is my backpack . I use this container a lot as well as the note app, but for different things. This is used more for my physical things. Like papers I am turning in, homework due, books for class, or binders with notes in them. This is a container I have been using since I was like five years old, which is probably the same as most people reading this post. This is a very useful and reliable resource for people who work away from home or that are in school. I use this resource everyday, especially while I am at school.

The last container I use pretty frequently is my gmail or email. I don’t use this nearly as often as the other two, but I use it almost once or twice a week. I use this to send important documents, pictures, or links to myself so I can either print them out or send them to someone else. This resource is full of items I do not even look at 85% of the time, and is full of useless messages that are not important for me to be retaining. I usually only check my gmail when I know I will be receiving a package, a document, or email from someone. This container might not be used everyday for me, but is the most important tool I use and that everyone should have.

Containers are a very useful resource that every person should have and use in their everyday lives. I recommend having at least three different tools to use, because not everything can be stored in the same resource. You can’t put physical items in a notes page or a gmail, and you can’t put emails, links, or useful documents in a backpack. My containers are not perfect for everyone, but they are perfect for me which is what matters. Use containers that will help better your life, don’t try and copy mine or anyone else’s. You probably already have some that you use, you just never thought about them as “containers.”
